Dolores (Hallett) Howard, 89, died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Kingston Rehabilitation of Perrysburg. She was born in Toledo, Ohio to Michael and Mary (Geha) Hallett on January 14, 1928. She married Eugene Howard on April 15, 1950 and together they raised seven children. Through much adversity, Dolores never compromised her values of kindness, friendliness, respect and compassion. She was a stay at home mother and was always extremely proud of her family. Dolores was an avid swimmer and in her later years competed in the senior Olympics in both Ohio and Michigan, winning numerous medals. She was especially proud of her backstroke. In her and Eugene’s retirement, she thoroughly enjoyed many years at their properties in Northern Michigan and Florida. Dolores was a person who made many friends wherever she went and as one friend wrote, “She was tiny, but she had a heart the size of Texas.” Many of her nieces and nephews considered her to be an inspiration and a role model, and they all looked forward to spending time with her at the annual Hallett-Etoll family reunion. Dolores is survived by her children, Michael (Sandy) Howard, Jeffery (Karen) Howard, Patrick (Becky) Howard, David (Anna) Howard, Kelly Marie Howard, Martin Howard, Andrew (Donna) Howard; fourteen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; parents; and 11 siblings. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Thursday, April 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Saint John XXIII, 24250 N. Dixie Highway, Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-6502) with family and friends being received at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to Mass. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for all the loving staff of Kingston Rehabilitation of Perrysburg and of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Arrangements were entrusted to Hoeflinger-Bolander Funeral Home, 3500 Navarre Avenue, Oregon (419-691-6768).
