Diane J. Thomsen, age 78, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Sylvania, Ohio. Diane was born on January 15, 1947, in Toledo, the daughter of Henry and Edith (Surtman) Cromer. She was a 1965 graduate of Whitmer High School and continued her education to be a registered EEG technologist. Diane spent her 39-year career at Toledo Hospital, first as a unit clerk, but the majority of her time was spent in the Neurophysiology Department. There she cared for her patients, and she became a respected and knowledgeable trainer of upcoming technologists.
In her spare time, Diane loved playing cards with her family and friends, especially Euchre, and Bunko with her girls’ group. She found relaxation at her Marble Lake house and by creating fond memories with those around her. Diane cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. Nothing could replace the quality time spent with those who were closest to her. Diane will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory include her children, Michael (Tanya) Thomsen and Kristen (John) Guercio; grandchildren, Natalie Thomsen, Ashley (Ben), Patrick, Jonathan (Mary), Kenneth (Nicole) and Hannah Guercio; great-grandchildren, Giavanna and Gabriella; sisters, Nancy Krohn, and Janie Goodwin; niece, Jennifer Krohn; nephews, Robert Krohn and Gary Goodwin; companion, Bill Orwig; and beloved dog, Tucker. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Edith; brothers-in-law, Russell Krohn, and Thomas Goodwin; and nephew, Russell Krohn, III.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. William McCune, at the University of Michigan, and to Dr. Susan Federman for their extraordinary care given to Diane. Their continued dedication and support for Diane’s health will never be forgotten.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Humane Society.
