Diane L. Pitzen

April 18, 1948 — February 2, 2025

Diane L. Pitzen died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 2, 2025. She was born in Toledo, Ohio to Kenneth (Pat) and Norma (Mauder) Cannon on April 18, 1948, and grew up in the surrounding area. She graduated from Waite High School and continued to stay connected with those closest classmates. There were many endearing names for Diane such as “Di”, “Gran” or “Granny D”, but they were all said with love and affection. Diane was a people-person which drew her to her work as a bus driver. She drove for HeadStart for many years, where she loved the kids she picked up each day. Then she worked for a charter bus service “Shortway” traveling the country, and lastly for TARTA, where she drove local routes, close to home and eventually retired from. Her schedule allowed her to attend her grand kid’s special events from cheerleading competitions, volley ball games, basketball and football games. She was always there for pictures before dances to send them off. She was the family cheerleader for everyone. She always made sure to tell everyone she loved them and if there was an activity, she was there supporting her family. Making tasty chicken noodle soup from scratch, attending craft shows and regular phone calls checking in telling us about her days are just a few things that will leave a huge void in our hearts. She was a faithful parishioner at Epiphany of our Lord-St. Thomas Aquinas and will be missed by many.

Diane is survived by Tamara (Bert) Pitzen, Trent Pitzen, Tiffany (Jason) Apthorpe; grandchildren, Dennis Patrick, Terry (Sue) Patrick, Joseph (Felecity) Woody, Hailey (River) Apthorpe, Marysa Apthorpe; and 10 great grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Renee Cannon, Casey (Sarah) Cannon and Jana (Brian) Willard. Preceding in death are her parents, siblings, Sandra White, Ken Cannon and Tracey Cannon. A visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home-Oregon Chapel (3500 Navarre Ave.) on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 4 pm – 8 pm., with a funeral to follow on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10:30 am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Diane's name to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
