Diane Sue Nichter, 70, of Perrysburg, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025. She was born on October 5, 1954, to Bernard and Marge (Simon) Abel.
Diane attended Maumee High School. She worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Northwest Ohio and WSOS Child Care Development. She spent most of her years as a stay-at-home mom, volunteering her time at St. Rose School to be close to her children as they grew up.
Diane enjoyed spending time with family and friends most while caring for her beloved canine companions. She enthusiastically cheered on her children and grandchildren while playing sports amongst other extracurriculars. Baseball tournaments were the focus for the middle part of her family life as both of her children loved baseball/softball. Later in life, after the passing of her husband Thomas, she really took to Detroit sports teams to continue to connect with her grandchildren. The Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions were two of her favorites. Diane also enjoyed a casino trip from time to time. Most of all, Diane really looked forward to spending time at the family cottage on Devils Lake as her family and all the canine companions were together.
Diane is survived by her children, Lori (Joshua) Powe and Mike Nichter; four grandchildren who referred to her as Mimi, Adam Nichter, Connor Powe, Bryce Nichter and Ashlyn Powe; siblings, Gary Abel and Jill Sabin; sister-in-laws, Nancy Patterson and Barb Nichter and brother-in-law, Tim Nichter and canine companion, Sadie. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her brother Larry and her husband Thomas.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, September 18 from 4 to 7PM with a scripture at 7 PM at Mason Darden Walker funeral home, 501 Conant, Maumee. Services will be Friday, September 19, 2025 at 10:30AM at St. Rose Catholic Church, Perrysburg. Internment at Saint Joseph cemetery. Luncheon to follow at St. Rose Church cafeteria.
