Diana Jean Jankowski, age 91, passed away peacefully at home, on February 22, 2025.
Born to George and Serena (Hoffman) Emch in Toledo, Ohio, Diana graduated from Whitney Vocational High School, Class of 1951, where she studied to be a seamstress and passed this gift on to both of her daughters.
Diana married Joseph V. Jankowski in 1964 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church and celebrated 44 years of marriage before his passing in 2008.
A lifelong Catholic, Diana's faith was unwavering. She was a proud and active member of Gesu Church. She served as a playground guard and sang in the choir for many years. She enjoyed embroidery, baking, gardening, and birdwatching from her window.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; daughter, Maria Maurer; and siblings, Georgia A. Wagner, Ronald and Robert Emch.
She will be deeply missed by her son, Matthew; daughter, Regina (Dan) Greunke; granddaughter, Emma Maurer and her father, Charles, of Philadelphia, PA; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and church friends.
Diana was surrounded by the love and devotion of her children who provided exceptional care during her final journey. A loving and kind mother, full of grace and peaceful strength, we will live by her example and cherish her memory forever in our hearts.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Gesu Church, 2049 Parkside Blvd, Toledo, Ohio, with visitation beginning an hour prior. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution in Diana’s honor to Gesu Church. Arrangements were entrusted to Walker Funeral Home, Toledo.
