Derek E. Brown

Derek E. Brown, 22, of Toledo, died Friday, June 13, 2014 at his home.  He was born in Toledo on March 9, 1992 and graduated from Sylvania Northview High School in 2010. Derek was fun-loving and fearlessly adventurous.  He enjoyed skydiving, skateboarding, riding dirt bikes and roller coasters and playing volleyball.  He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and a member of NOCYPAA.  Derek was a kind-hearted, people person who regularly volunteered his time in an effort to assist the needs of others.  He had a great sense of humor and absolutely loved his family. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Kim Brown; father and step mother, Don and Carlene Brown; grandparents, Don and Charlotte Murd and Daniel Brown; sister, Kristi (James) Schmenk; step brothers, Ronald (Cristen) Miller and Corey (Angela) Koser; nieces, Rilynn and Sadie; nephews, Roderic, Nolan and Tyson; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruth Ann Brown. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2014.  Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Dereks family.
