Dennis Underwood

Dennis Underwood, at age 69 died peacefully on January 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to his parents Frank and Lucille (Niedzwiecki) Underwood on October 1, 1952. He graduated from Macomber High School and picked up the trade of woodworking rather quickly through vocational training.

He was a cabinet maker by trade, but there was nothing that Dennis could not fix. His attention to detail and his competitive spirit made him one of the very best at his craft.

He later married his wife Chalise Ann (Warner) and they were married for 49 years. Known for his quiet and calm manner in the middle of any storm, he brought strength to his family.

Dennis loved to tinker out in his shop and fix things, tear them apart and put them back together. He enjoyed a good competition whether playing Euchre, cornhole or bowling and even bowled a perfect game. It did not take a lot to make Dennis happy but at the top of his list of things he enjoyed was his family, his truck, meat and potatoes and morning breakfast with friends to get his day going.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David; sister Elaine Kerwin; and his Boston Terrier buddy, Marco.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Chalise Ann; children Augest (Pam), Aaron (Courtney); grandchildren Brendan, Reily, Allyson and Harper; siblings Judy (Terry) Lashaway, Darlene Rarrick, Jim (Elaine) Underwood, Don Underwood; and his beloved cat, Stache.

A special thanks to all the members of the UTMC kidney transplant team for their great care of Dennis.

A visitation starting at 10:15 am followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am in honor of Dennis will be held at Olivet Lutheran Church, 5840 Monroe St, on Friday, January 21, 2022. Inurnment will follow immediately at Toledo Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Toledo Humane Society, American Diabetes, or Donate Life Ohio in memory of Dennis.
