Dennis N. Schafer

Dennis N. Schafer, 74, of Toledo, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Dennis was born in Burlington, IA on July 17, 1941 to Raymond and Eva Schafer. He was a welder and inspector for Chrysler Jeep for 29 years, retiring in 2004. Dennis enjoyed boating, fishing, collecting coins, and doing wood working projects. Some of his more recent wood projects are on display in his yard. He was a longtime member of Mayfair Plymouth Congregational Church. Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Rohlman) Schafer; his children, Connie (Chuck) Strom, Matthew (Shari) Schafer, Denise (Phil) Carlson, and Michael (Sherry) Schafer; step-children, Kym (Albert) Stoner, Tammy Hanna, Pamela (Robert) Ingram, and Billy Wilson; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by special friends, Ron Anderson and Paul Keller; fishing buddy, Lionel Blackburn; and furry friend, Tinker the toy poodle. Visitation will be Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 3-8:00 pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) and on Monday at Mayfair Plymouth Congregational Church, 5253 Bennett Rd. Toledo, OH from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park in Sylvania. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E.
