Dennis R. Robel, Sr.

Dennis R. Robel, Sr., passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, surrounded by his loving family, after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.

Denny was born in Port Clinton, Ohio, on July 25, 1943, to William and Elverna (Ohm) Robel. He was a 1961 graduate of Port Clinton High School and served six years in the Army National Guard. He then attended barber college in Toledo, Ohio. Denny went on to be a local barber for eight years before joining Heineman Distributing in 1971, where he worked until his retirement in 2013, To most of his customers, he was affectionately known as “Denny the Miller Man.”

Denny married Darlene (Chaffin) on January 9, 1982, in Port Clinton, and she survives. Denny loved spending time with his family and always looked forward to golfing with his son, sons-in-law and his buddy, Jim. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him the most joy.

Denny leaves behind to cherish all the great memories, his loving wife of 42 years, Darlene, son, Denny (Tina) Robel, daughter, Angela Campbell, daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer (Alex) Meadows and Susan (Nathan) Spitler. His grandchildren, Jakob (Abby) Spitler, Kaylee (Fischer) Eltringham, Reagan Meadows, and Zayne, Zavier, and Zyler Manning, great-grandchildren, Bentley Mominee, Bella & Crue Spitler, sisters, Diane Conte, Gail (Rod) Zieber, brothers-in-law, Wayne, Fred (Mary) and Chuck Chaffin, along with many precious nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill and daughter-in-law, Wendy.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the wonderful care from Dr. Matt Branecki, Dr. Hardacre and Tina, Dr. Reese and staff, and the wonderful hospice nurses during his final days, Donna, Lori, Mary, and Susie.

Visitation for Denny will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 15, 2024, with burial to follow in the Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
