Dennis Ronald Kirian

Dennis Ronald “Denny” Kirian of Toledo, OH peacefully passed away on July 3rd, surrounded by his family. Dennis will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Marianne; his children Nicholas (Mary) and Matthew; and his grandchild Riley. He will also be fondly remembered by his siblings, John (Marge) Kirian, Kathy (Roger) Baker, and Pat (Roger) Dariano. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald (Diane) Kirian. Dennis was born in Tiffin, OH to Helen (Paulus) and Emil Kirian on August 10, 1954. He married his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, Marianne (Schlick) on July 23, 1977 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Tiffin. Dennis was a proud graduate of Calvert High School in Tiffin. He enjoyed continuing his studies at Loyola University of Chicago, spending time outside by Lake Michigan, and earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work. He went on to dedicate his career to serving others as a medical social worker, spending much of his time meeting with patients in home visits, throughout northwest Ohio. He also specialized in renal social work, and supported countless patients receiving dialysis treatment. As a father, he was always kind and supportive, present for his sons at every game, and even most practices. He will be remembered as a patient listener, who led by example and was always willing to lend a helping hand. For Dennis, there was nothing better than a day outdoors, whether on the golf course or by the pool, spent with his family. In retirement, he continued to work on his short game, putting in the living room, and getting outside to walk the dachshunds, Roxy and Shotzie. Saturdays were always reserved for college sports, cheering on the Irish or the Wildcats. His biggest smiles came when he saw his granddaughter; his face lit up whether they were chatting over a nightly facetime call or sharing a moment together in person. The family will receive guests from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, with a scripture service at 7:30 PM on Tuesday July 6, 2021, at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Sylvania, OH 43623. Mass will be held at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Ln, Toledo, OH 43623 on July 7, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Toledo St. Francis de Sales High School or Tiffin Calvert High School.
