Dennis Anthony Katterheinrich, age 59, of Toledo, Ohio, peacefully went to be with God on December 15, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Denny was born October 28,1965, in Elyria, Ohio. His family moved around to various places before landing in Sylvania, Ohio where he spent most of his childhood. He graduated from Sylvania Northview High School in 1984 then went on to earn his bachelor's degree from the University of Toledo, where he later completed graduate studies.
Since 1998, Dennis worked for Sumitomo Drive Technologies, taking on multiple roles throughout his tenure and serving as a mentor to many. Most recently, Dennis served as Strategic Sales Manager. During his 26 years, he was able to travel across the country and globe, taking great pride in working hard and doing things the right way. He always took the time to learn as much as he could about new opportunities, asked thoughtful questions, and led by example.
Denny loved being outdoors- mowing the lawn, going for walks at Wildwood Metropark, riding his bike, and most of all playing golf. He and his brother played with a group of friends every Saturday morning during the summertime for many years. Denny was an avid fan of many sports, following the Cincinnati Reds, Columbus Blue Jackets, and his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. He was known for never missing the opportunity to send someone a greeting card remembering every birthday, anniversary, and special occasion.
There was nothing Denny took greater pride in than being a dad. He and his daughter, Alli, had a special relationship filled with many traditions, including their spring training trips and hitting as many Major League Baseball parks as they could. They spoke every day, even when Dennis was traveling for work or Alli was living away from Toledo. He was always there- as the softball coach, the school chaperone, and the dad that all her friends knew. Over the past four years, he loved spending weekends in “Denny’s Den” at Alli & Ryan’s apartment in Columbus. No one was better than him at being the most present and dependable dad.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Allison and son in law, Ryan Murphy; his mother, Joanne Katterheinrich; father Larry Katterheinrich; siblings Nan McClung and Dave Katterheinrich; the Fischer Family; his nieces Danielle (Josh) Scott, Denise (Mitch) Maraugha, Rebecca McClung, Courtney (Lucas) Apel, Cori Fischer, Colette Fischer, Paiton Russell and Paxton Russell; great nephews and nieces Colton, Louise, Hope, Emily, and Loralei; stepsister Tana Ohneck; and many lifelong friends, including Amy (Bodkin) Due. He was preceded in death by his twin sister Deborah (Katterheinrich) Johnson.
A visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home (5155 W. Sylvania Ave.) on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 4 pm to 8 pm., and a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10 am. Interment to follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
