Dennis Lee Bennice, age 72, of Maumee, Ohio passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018 at St. Lukes Hospital. He was born on October 11, 1945 to Dominic and Lucille (Fondessy) Bennice. Dennis worked for 40 years for the Dana Corporation, including as the President of Dana Risk Management Services, Inc. Dennis also served as President of Dana’s Bermuda based Wrenford Insurance Captive, and established a Wrenford sponsored scholarship for Bermudian insurance students. His professional achievements earned him a place on Business Insurance’s 2006 Risk Management Honor Roll. After retiring from Dana, he continued in the risk management field as Vice President at the Toledo based Hylant Group and as a consultant for various companies. Dennis also spent numerous years on the Maumee Planning Commission. He was an avid golfer and member of Belmont Country Club. He also enjoyed target shooting, fishing, and was a loyal fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers. Dennis is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Jennifer (Chris Hooper) Bennice; son, Todd (Carrie) Bennice; brother, Donn (June) Bennice; brother-in-law, Tom Wahl; and nephews, Eric (Mindy) Wahl and Wesley and Matthew (Shelby) Bennice. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio. Additional visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of the funeral services at 11 am on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Maumee United Methodist Church, 405 Sackett Street, Maumee, Ohio. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be directed to Maumee United Methodist Church.
