Dennis Aeschliman

Dennis Mr. A. Aeschliman, 87 of Pemberville, OH died Friday November 11, 2011 at Otterbein Portage Valley in Pemberville. Dennis was born on February 10, 1924 in Wauseon, Ohio to Dennis and Lydia Keiser Aeschliman, Sr. On July 7, 1948 in Springfield, Massachusetts he married the former Barbara Phillips, and she survives. Dennis was a school teacher for many, years teaching at Oregon City Schools for 17 years, Bowling Green Elementary Schools for 1 year, and Eastwood Schools for 6 years. He was a veteran of the United States armed services where he served in the Navy from 1942-1946 on the Battleship New York. Dennis was a member of the American Legion Post 324 in Genoa, and also a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Perry Wargo 29. Dennis was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Genoa, and loved to fish, hunt, read and golf. He was especially proud of the 4 hole-in-ones he made. Dennis also played professional baseball where he was a member of the Chicago Cubs farm team. In 1947 he made it to the All-Star game for the farm system. Dennis is survived by his wife of 63 years Barbara, daughters, Deborah Donn McGuire, Diane Skevington, Elizabeth John Bermudez, Mary Tony Janis, and Karel Hasselbach, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and sister, Pauline Palmquist. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Marguerite Chamberlin. Visitation for Dennis will be on Tuesday November 15, 2011 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, Genoa, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday November 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Genoa, Ohio. Interment will be in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa, Ohio. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Trinity United Methodist Church, Genoa, Ohio, or to the Otterbein Portage Valley Retirement Community, 20311 Pemberville, Ohio 43450.
