Denise Susan Thomas

Denise Susan “Sue” Thomas, age 71, died December 29, 2022, at her home. She was born August 15, 1951, in Toledo to Frank and Joan (McIntyre) Tifft and graduated from Sylvania High School in 1969.

Through the years, Sue was a dental assistant, a barber, a small business owner, a pastor’s wife, and always a devoted sister, aunt, godmother, and friend. She loved people, nature, animals, “Dr. Pol”, ballet, and ice skating. Among her passions were helping Todd create candles for the business, poetry, swimming, music, dancing at church, trips to the zoo, and lunches out with the girls. Then there were walks in the parks, trips up north, collecting agates on Lake Superior and time on the beaches in Florida to collect shells. Of course, we must include Baskins Robbins and chocolate milk shakes, puzzles, collecting dolls, and crafting. There wasn’t much she didn’t like. Fun loving and God-fearing, she was affectionately known as Sweet Sue or SuzieQ and she will be deeply missed.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of 47 years, Todd Thomas. Left to cherish her memory are siblings, Kathe (Dave) Michaelson, Joni (Rick) Prettyman, Jim (Karen) Tifft, Brian Tifft (Gariann Cox); brother-in-law, Brad Thomas (Katie Hoag); sister-in-law, Tracy (Paul) Schmidlin; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.

We are thankful to the friends, family and caregivers who faithfully came to see her and care for her. They brought her much joy.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2023, in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.), Toledo. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 9, 2023, at Westside Community Church, 6045 W. Bancroft St., Toledo, Ohio 43615, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Sue will be privately laid to rest with her husband at Toledo Memorial Park.
