Delora Helen Schroeder-Self

Delora Helen Schroeder-Self, 88, of Holland, Ohio passed away at Spring Meadows Senior Community on January 28, 2016. She was born on March 27, 1927 in Defiance, Ohio to Henry and Emma (Wittenberg) Meyer. Delora is preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey A. Schroeder. and second husband, Robert “Bob” Self. Delora was a graduate of Napoleon High School. She worked as a secretary for over 25 years at her husband’s family business, Harvey Schroeder Remodeling and for many years made Christmas bows for the Anderson’s in Maumee. She was heavily involved in her church, Providence Lutheran, in which she was a Charter Member. Delora was active in the Gideon International Auxiliary, Compass Club and Women of the Church. She also enjoyed bowling and belonged to the Lutheran Women’s Bowling League. Delora loved her family, there was nothing more important to her. Delora is survived by her loving children, Connie (Jim) Michaelis and Harvey (Nancy) Schroeder; step children, David (Sandy) Self, Miriam Self, Naomi (Glen) Lindahl, Jim (Rena) Self, Rebecca (Gary) Buhler and Marty (Alan) McElheney; seven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Meyer and Harvey Meyer and sister, Thelma Sonnenberg. Friends will be received on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. in Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, Ohio 43528 (419-865-8879). Visitation will continue on Monday, February 1, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Providence Lutheran Church, 8131 Airport Highway, Holland, where funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be held at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Providence Lutheran Church and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
