Delmus A. Harris

Delmus A. Harris, 81, of Graytown, died early morning, Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Mercy-St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. He was born August 17, 1937, in Toledo to John A. and Minnie E. (Crews) Harris. On November 19, 1960, in Toledo he married his childhood sweetheart, Nonnie J. Gee, and she survives. From 1956-1962 he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and worked for the Dept. of the Interior as an inspector. After 18 years at Bock Engineering, Delmus retired in 2004 and prior to that worked for 21 years at Dana Corp. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Blackberry, and a former member of the Masonic Lodge. His other memberships included the Eagles Lodge Aerie #712 in Fremont and the Spicer Sportsmans Club in Michigan. He was an avid sportsman, which included a trap and skeet league, hunting and fishing and taxidermy. In addition to his wife, Nonnie, Delmus is survived by his sons, Delmus A. Harris II of Graytown and Michael J. Harris of Fremont; grandchildren, John Harris, Josh Harris, Omar Sadin and Ileana Sadin; great granddaughter, Thaleia Kurdy; and sister-in-law, Cindy Nees-Sadin of Toledo. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Van W. Harris and sisters, Lillian Harris and Thelma N. Lappily. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 27, 2018, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Blackberry. The family will greet visitors from 10 until the time of service in the church. It is suggested that memorials for Delmus be given to the Ottawa County Humane Society, 2424 E. Sand Rd., Port Clinton, OH 43452; or St Peter Lutheran Church, 17877 W. St. Rt. 579, Martin, OH 43445. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory of Genoa has handled the arrangements.
