Delbert E. Perkins

Delbert E. Perkins, age 90, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016 at Swan Creek Retirement Village, Toledo, Ohio. He was born in Nelsonville, Ohio on June 9, 1926 to Pearly and Mabel Clare (Spooner) Perkins. Delbert graduated from New Philadelphia High School and then continued on to receive his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from The Ohio State University and a MBA from the University of Toledo. In 1952 Del made his wisest decision and married Shirley Minnis. They were married for 59 years. Del and Shirley had two children and 3 grandchildren whom they spoiled with love, and cheered for at many sporting events and musical programs. Del was a successful CPA and was the business manager for Leslie J. Strawn, Inc; a Group Controller for Leaseway Transportation; Assistant Finance Director for the Lucas County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, from which he retired. He was an active member at Epworth United Methodist Church in Toledo. Del enjoyed playing the piano and organ, was an avid bridge player, loved going on cruises and was a volunteer tax preparer for AARP. Del is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Sue) Perkins; daughter, Pat (Glenn) Clouse and grandchildren, Kristen (Josh) Lutz, Scott Perkins and Shannon Clouse. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Shirley. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 10 am followed by a memorial service at 11 am in the chapel at Swan Creek Retirement Village, 5916 Cresthaven Lane, Toledo, Ohio 43614. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Senior Independence Hospice, 1730 South Reynolds Road, Toledo, Ohio 43614.
