Del Drinkwater, 62, of Millbury, died from lung cancer in his home surrounded by his family Thursday evening, October 23, 2008. He was born September 11, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio, to Clair R. and Dora Jensen E. Drinkwater. On May 21, 1966, in Genoa he married Linda Kay Coppler and she survives. Del was employed for 32 years by Stanley Machining. He started as a machinist apprentice and worked his way up to Plant Manager. He designed and built specialty machines. Del enjoyed the challenge of creating something new. In his retirement, Del sold antique tools, of which he was very knowledgeable. He especially enjoyed finding rare and unusual tools. He was a member of the Midwest Tool Collectors and Ohio Tool Collectors Associations. Del served in the U.S. Air Force during the 1960s as a Refueling Specialist. In addition to his wife, Linda, Del is survived by his daughters, Cherie R. Drinkwater and Jennifer L. Maenle, grandchildren, Kyle M. Maenle, Grace R. Maenle, and Cullen J. Rucker, mother-in-law, Joyce L. Coppler, sister, Patricia Butler, and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, sister, and two brothers. The family will hold a memorial gathering at Cedar Creek Church in Perrysburg on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. The family has suggested memorials for Del to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northwestern Ohio, 405 Madison Ave. Suite 1390, Toledo, OH 43614 or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd. Perrysburg, OH 43551. Arrangements have been handled by the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory of Genoa. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
