Debra K. Ostrander age 68 of Perrysburg, OH passed away unexpectedly on March 18, 2023. She was born in Bowling Green, OH on November 8, 1954, to Robert and Shirley (Meeker) Nichols.
Debra was employed as an RN, CRRN. Her love of caring for spinal cord injury patients lead her to become a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse at the former MCO for 10 years until her diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 1996. After her diagnosis she carried over her love for caring for people by participating in the NW Ohio Spinal Cord Injury Association where she continued caring for individuals with disabilities as well as becoming a mentor to many with new disabilities and injuries. She also participated in wheelchair sports with the Toledo Raptors. Competing in shot put and discus showed her that she had strengths that she never knew she had.
Deb dedicated her life to everyone that entered it. Her life was dedicated wholeheartedly to her family. All of her favorite times were spent surrounded by family. Her compassionate heart and contagious laugh was loved by all that met her. She was known to send quick humorous text messages just to bring smiles to peoples faces, yes sometimes even crazy elephants. She enjoyed baking (she was famous for her cheesecakes or giant cookies), gardening and music. Deb was also known for her love of animals, especially cats (even her outdoor kitties). Her greatest love of all was her 3 grandchildren. Watching them grow and blossom made her heart complete.
Surviving is her loving companion of 25 years, Richard Clark; daughter, Mandy Flagg; step-son, Mark (Laura) Ostrander; grandchildren, Chloe (Lorenzo) Flagg, Olivia Flagg and Robert Flagg III; siblings, Joni (Dennis) Badik, Carolyn Heidelberg and John (Andrea) Nichols. As well as many very special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Debra was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Shirley and son-law, Robert Flagg.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg OH with a Celebration of Life immediately following the service at the Schaller Memorial Building, 130 W. Indiana, Perrysburg, OH.
