Debra Contat

Debra L. Contat, age 67, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on April 9, 2023, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, surrounded by her loving family. Debra was a 1974 graduate of Maumee High School and continued her education at the Mercy College of Nursing, earning her LPN and RN. Debra took pride in being a nurse and caring for others. She was employed with Mercy Hospital and St. Charles Hospital and retired from her career as a home healthcare manager. Debra loved her granddaughters dearly; she was beyond proud of them and took great pride in being their grandmother and hearing of all they did. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking and baking for others and was best known for her lemon meringue pie. She also took pleasure in nature, planting flowers and beating her son in Scrabble. Debra was a strong and courageous woman, donating a kidney to her late sister and taking all challenges head-on. As she navigated many health challenges later in life, all were always amazed at her ability to bounce back and handle them with grace. Debra exemplified persistence and determination. All who had the opportunity to know and love her will miss her.

Debra L. Contat was born on May 8, 1955, in Maumee, Ohio, the daughter of Marvin “Luke” and Doris L. (Gibson) Contat. Debra was one of 10 siblings.

Left to cherish her memory include her son, Bradley (Donna) Contat; her grandchildren, Madison and Olivia Contat; 7 siblings, Penny (Randall) Olds, Gary (Eileen) Contat, Gale Contat, Bobbi (Mike) Jurek, Becky (Mark) Chitwood, Jeff Contat, and Greg (Janine) Contat; and her best friend of over 50 years, Debra Thatcher. Debra is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin “Luke” and Doris Contat; and two sisters, Kathy (Roland) Shue and Linda Delrue.

A visitation of friends and family will gather on Friday, April 21, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 PM, at the Maison-Dardenne Walker Funeral Home, Maumee, Ohio. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
