Deborah E. Graver of Oregon, OH passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Lutheran Home of Napoleon. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November 2015 and was under Senior Independence Hospice care since January 2016. Deborah was born March 23, 1954 in Wyandotte, Michigan to Harold E. and Marjorie E. (Hamilton) Altherr. Deb moved to Toledo when she was nine months old. Her sister Candace E. and brother Kevin E. were born in Toledo. In 1959 the family moved to Napoleon, Ohio where the family welcomed the youngest member Charles Eric. Napoleon was the place Deb would forever call home. She attended school and graduated from Napoleon High School in 1972. Following graduation Deb attended Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976, earning a double major in Psychology and Sociology. While attending Adrian, Deb participated in an Appalachian externship her junior year at Union College, Barbourville, KY. Deborah received her Master of Social Work degree in August 1995 from The Ohio State University. Deb had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. She was baptized at Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church in 1959. Her confirmation was competed at Christ EUB in 1967. She served her home church Christ United Methodist Church in numerous capacities: President of the Women’s Society, Vision 2000 Committee Chair, Pastor-Parish Relations Chair Sunday School teacher, Youth Leader. Deb participated in a three week Episcopalian Mission trip to the Pine Ridge Reservation of the Sioux tribe in August 1971. It was an experience that influenced her career choice and a lifelong belief that we are here to help and love one another. Her work in the church included Adriel School Archbold, Ohio East Toledo St. Mark Lutheran Church as a Family Life Director, Lutheran Community Services and Lutheran Home at Toledo. Until the time of her disability, she was employed by Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services at Senior Independence Home Heath Care and Hospice. Her career began with 17 years at Job & Family Services in Fulton, Henry & Defiance Counties. Deb married her high school sweetheart Doug Rudolph in 1976. The couple had three children Dan, Dea and Denton Rudolph. In 1993 the couple divorced. Deb met Alan Graver and they married in November 1994. Deborah is survived by her husband, Alan Graver; mother Marjorie Altherr, Napoleon, OH; her three children and their families: Dan (Brittni) Rudolph and daughter Laina and Eva, San Diego, CA, Dea (Brian) Plummer and family Hannah, Jacob, Ethan and Carey, McClure, OH and Denton Rudolph (April Hutchinson) and family, Eliza, Azrael, Dade and Orin Rudolph, Toledo, OH and Nichol Graver Salvo, DPM and her daughter, Ella, Atlanta, G;. her sister Candy Altherr (Lyndhurst), brothers, Kevin Altherr and his wife Kathy, Napoleon, OH, Eric Altherr and his wife Terri, Reynoldsburg. Also surviving is her only niece Kristin (Cole) Shepard and their children Camden and Kylin were very special to Debbie. Her father Harold Altherr preceded her in death in 2012 as did her nephew and Godson Kyle Altherr in March 2014. Visitation will be held at Hoeflinger-Bolander Funeral Home on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 2-8 pm. Services will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 1255 Glenwood, Napoleon, Ohio on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11 am., with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Mary Kay and Rev. Elizabeth Giller will be officiating the services. Entombment will follow the luncheon at 1:30 at Highland Memory Gardens, Waterville, with hospice Chaplain Vince Flippo officiating. Deb’s family would like to thank her Senior Independence Hospice team, Dr. Roger Wohlwend, Julie, Cookie, Sarah and Vince and Deb’s closest friends Ruth, Stephanie and Luann who visited regularly until her passing.
