Deborah A. (Katterheinrich) Johnson

Deborah A. Johnson, age 55, formerly of Toledo, died July 11, 2021, in Barrington, IL where she has resided for the past 15 years. Debbie was born October 28, 1965, in Elyria and graduated from Sylvania Northview High School in 1984. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Toledo in 1989. Debbie was passionate about writing, particularly journalism. She worked at several area newspapers including Wauseon, Swanton, and the Ohio/Lake Erie Commission. She also worked for the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation in Columbus producing their newsletter. Most recently, Debbie was employed with Marquardt Automotive in Barrington as a customer relations representative. In her free time, she loved to read and spend time with her dogs, Max and Chester. She also kept up on the current events in the lives of her nieces and was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings, as well as the Ohio State Buckeyes. Debbie was a tremendous athlete herself, earning four varsity softball letters in high school while continuing to play for many years after. She will also be remembered for her selfless, caring, and friendly nature. Debbie was positive, engaging, and driven to be the best she could be. Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Joanne Katterheinrich; father, Larry Katterheinrich; sister, Nan McClung; brothers, Dave and her twin, Dennis Katterheinrich; nieces, Denise, Danielle, Rebecca, Courtney, and Alli; great nephew and great nieces, Colton, Louise, Hope, and Emily; stepsister, Tana Ohneck; and best friend, Brian Johnson. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Carol and nephew, Ricky. Family and friends are invited to visit from 11 a.m. until the time of the services at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021, in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.). Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
