Deborah Sue Essi

Debi lost her 3 year battle with lung cancer on November 11, 2016 at the Ebeid Hospice Care Center in Sylvania. Her family was able to be with her at that time. Born in Buffalo, NY on March 18, 1942, she lived most of her life in the Toledo area. Debi was a 1960 graduate of Notre Dame High School and the St. Vincent School of Nursing and worked as an RN at several hospitals in Ohio. When not working, she loved to travel the world often and is quite proud of the fact that she has set foot on all 7 continents. She always liked to ride the local mode of transportation having ridden a camel, elephant, and llama. Debi also was a volunteer at the Toledo Zoo and volunteered at Mobile Meals. She will be joining her parents who have preceded her in death; Philip A. Essi and Lorraine W. Robison. She leaves behind her cuter sister, Margo Hamrick (Charles) of Atlanta, and her favorite brother, Mike Essi (Kathy) of Sylvania. Also missing their aunt will be her 6 nieces and nephews: Todd Held (Judy), Julie Potts (Lamar), Lisa Young, all of Georgia; Stephanie Sizemore (Chris) and Keith Held (Anastasia) both of North Carolina and Tom Essi (Amy) of Sylvania. There are 15 great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew. Friends may visit the family on Sunday November 13, from 4:00-7:00 PM. Funeral services will begin with prayers at the funeral home at 9:30 AM follow by the funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania. Graveside service will be private.
