Debbie Jo Fessler, age 72, of Sylvania, OH, passed away February 2, 2024 at her home. She earned herself many endearing nicknames over her lifetime which included: Coco, Deb, Teetsie and That Fessler Woman.
Deb was born June 2, 1951, in Maumee, OH to Donald and Elizabeth (Walker) Wanous. She married the love of her life, John Fessler and together they enjoyed 42 years of marriage. Deb worked many jobs over the years but her favorite by far was owning Great Lakes Estate Sales. Her goal was to have a great experience for her clients and customers.
She had a passion for primitives and antiques. A talented and creative artist and crafter, Deb would use many of those treasures to create decorative items sold at Finder Keepers' Markets and her son’s store. She was known to decorate the interior and exterior of her home for every season. A nature lover, she loved being outdoors tending to her flower garden, which always brought her great joy, and feeding the local wildlife. Deb found solace and peace in visiting southern Ohio and Amish country.
Deb had a need for speed. She was a skilled race car driver who won the SCCA Auto Cross National Championship 4 times. Deb was an avid fan of NASCAR and Formula One Racing.
She is survived by her husband, John; son, Rory (Scott Brown) Fessler; sister-in-law, Ann Fessler (Peter Andersen); and cousin, Claudia (Fred) Koperski. Deb was preceded in death by her father, Donald Wanous; mother, Elizabeth Wanous; step-father, Wilbur Priest; and father and mother-in-law, Hazel and Clifford Fessler.
Family and friends may visit Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 3:30 -6:30 pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. The service for Deb will begin at 6:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Toledo Area Humane Society.
