Dean W. Duston

Dean W. Duston, 93, of Perrysburg, passed on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at The Manor of Perrysburg. He was born November 9, 1922 in Okmulgee, OK to Arthur and Kittie (Smith) Duston. Dean earned his Bachelor’s Degrees in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis. He married Jean Wittenberg, in 1949 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Dean served in the United States Army in World War II. Beginning in 1948, Mr. Duston had a long and successful career as a manufacturer’s representative selling heating and air conditioning equipment. In 1975 he joined James Wilkie in partnership creating The Wilkie Duston Co. They worked together until Dean retired in 1989. During his career he served a term as President of the Toledo Chapter of American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers, ASHRAE. Dean was also past President of the Toledo Glass Club and when his children were young, served as Cub Master of Cub Scout Pack 198 and Troop Committee Chair and Treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 110. He attended First Church of Christ, Scientist, Maumee. In his spare time, Dean enjoyed traveling, collecting cut and art glass, collecting stamps, reading, and at one time hooking rugs. Dean is survived by his wife, Jean Duston; children, Diane (Robert Parry) Duston of Arlington, Virginia, Reed (Candace Ford) Duston of Seidlitz, Oregon and Craig (Tighe) Duston of Union, Kentucky; grandson, Jeffery Duston Parry of Arlington, Virginia; and brother, Glen (Bess) Duston of Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Kittie. Friends will be received on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 6-8 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 (419-874-3133) A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, February 21, 2016 at 4 P.M. at the W.W. Knight Nature Preserve, 29530 White Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551.
