Dawn M. LaRoe, age 90 of Perrysburg passed away Monday December 21, 2020 from complications of COVID-19. She was born June 14, 1930 to Anthony and Esther Hoffman in Pottsville, PA. She earned her nursing degree in Germantown, PA and loved being a nurse making many life-long friendships. After retiring from nursing she was a hostess at her son’s restaurant, LaRoe’s in Grand Rapids, Ohio. Ask anyone who knew her and you would be told that caring for her family was the most important career in her life. During WWII she started corresponding with a handsome Navy seaman who later would drive over mountains and around slow moving coal trucks just to see her. She married Kenneth LaRoe on August 25, 1951. They enjoyed 49 wonderful years together with many special memories made with family and friends at their summer cottage. Dawn is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth; sisters, Althea and Ruth; son, Thomas LaRoe; and grandson, Joshua LaRoe. She is survived by her children, David LaRoe, Susan Greene (Jerry) and Rebecca LaRoe (Evan Stathulis); grandchildren, Chelsea Badgley (Nick), Logan LaRoe (Gabrielle), Sarah Greene and Katie, Peter and Andrew Stathulis; great-grandchildren, Mariska, Thomas and Archer Badgley and Scarlett LaRoe; brother, Jack (Joan) Hoffman; many nieces and nephews; and special Waterford friend, Debbie. Due to COVID-19 there will be no memorial service at this time. The family will have a celebration of life party when it is safe to gather again. A special thank you to the staff at Waterford of Levis Commons and the nurses and doctors at Heartland Hospice.
