David H. Papa Zim Zimmerman

David Papa Zim Zimmerman, 80, of Graytown, Ohio died Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at his residence.  He was born in Oak Harbor, Ohio to Howard and Valena (Sutter) Zimmerman, on May 12, 1939.  He married Twila J. Harder at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, in Oak Harbor, on April 23, 1960 and she preceded him in death on July 17, 2009. David retired from Brush-Wellman in Elmore, Ohio, after over forty years of service.  He was also a longtime member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Graytown. During his high school years at Oak Harbor High School, David excelled at Cross Country and competed at the state level. He served for many years on the Benton Township Zoning Board of Appeals. David was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting on his land he called The Farm also known as the River Bend Hunt Club.  Shooting trap & skeet along with his Camp Perry Shooting Club membership were among his favorite pastimes.  During his later years, David could be found riding around Graytown on his golf cart making his regular stops.  For many years, he and his family enjoyed vacationing in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida.  A sweet treat was always on the menu for David and was only satisfied by a Turtle Sundae from the Barnside Creamery.  After all is said and done, no matter what he was involved with, the most important part of his life was the love he held for his family. Surviving David is his daughters, Carrie (Brad) Reif and Lou Ann DeRan (Brad Jess).  Grand children Libby (Jamie) Arthur, Justin (Kim) Reif, Brandon Reif (Brittany Perry) and Brett Zimmerman.  Great Grandchildren, Coltin and Hayes Arthur, Elena and Deacon Reif, Jayce Pendleton.  Brother Bob Zimmerman and sisters Suzann Thompson and Barbara Zimmerman.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Twila, sister Marcia Jean, granddaughter, Breann Kay DeRan. A celebration of Davids life will be held at the Graytown Park Shelter House, 1670 Walker St., Graytown, OH 43432 at 11 AM on Friday, September 6, 2019.  Memorial contributions in Davids name may be made to the Graytown Park, c/o Benton Township Trustees, P.O.
