David Nelson White, age 69, passed away peacefully at his Sylvania home on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 after a very brief illness. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 3, 1946 to Gertrude and Nelson White, both of whom preceded him in death. David graduated from Sylvania High School and attended The Ohio State University. He returned to Toledo after his fathers death and graduated from the University of Toledo. While at UT, he was a member of Pershing Rifles. David was a food broker for over thirty-five years, serving grocery warehouses in Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. He found the good in everything and loved to talk, finding great joy in keeping in touch with his many colleagues and friends. His favorite activity was watching football, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes (go Bucks!) After retirement, David thoroughly enjoyed serving in the Caregiver Ministry at Hope Lutheran Church. He loved to travel, especially on cruises to warm climates during the winter months. During summer months, he spent his time at Deep Lake, relaxing on his pontoon boat, grilling steaks, talking into the evening at the fire pit, and tending to his beautiful flowers. David is survived by his wife, Beth; children, Jason White, Tyler White, and Ryan Thomas; step-daughters, Emily (Brady) Little, and Colleen (Andrew) McGurk; sisters, Barbara Martig, and Janet (Joe) Keifer; and step-grandchildren, Nora and Teddy; Visitation will be held at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, Toledo, Ohio (west of Corey Rd.), on Sunday, February 7, from 12 - 4 PM. A memorial service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 2201 Secor Rd., Toledo, Ohio on Monday, February 8 at 11 AM. Interment will be private.
