David Carson Wetmore, age 48 years, of Toledo, died March 17, 2020 at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. Dave was born November 21, 1971 in Toledo and graduated from Sylvania Southview High School in 1990. He immediately enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for 10 years, primarily as an intelligence specialist with photo imagery. Upon honorable discharge, Dave joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve and later the Air National Guard for a total of 12 years. His service included three deployments to Iraq and assisting the victims of Hurricane Katrina. He served in the Gulf War/War on Terrorism in the Air Force Reserves. During his military career, Dave was awarded multiple ribbons for meritorious services in both the Navy and Air Force. While in the Air National Guard, Dave also served as a police officer in Clovis, New Mexico. In 2014, he and his wife returned to Ohio to raise their family. Dave was currently working as a Highway Technician Level 3 with the Ohio Department of Transportation and also part time at Lowes in the evenings. Energetic and fun-loving, he was well-known for the incredible Halloween displays in his front yard every year. Dave was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and NASCAR and a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Holgate, Ohio. He will also be lovingly remembered for his Heart of Gold compassionate, selfless and helpful to his friends and neighbors, always seeing the good in others. Dave found his greatest joy in spending time with his wife and sons. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Victoria; his sons Antonio Franklin and Brian Michael Wetmore; parents Frank and Pam Wetmore; sister Dawn (Jacob) Forrest, niece Kiley and nephew Kane; brother Denny (Aimee) Wetmore and niece Sophia; mother-in-law Virginia Royball; father-in-law Howard Moya; other in-laws Casey Gonzales, Jennifer (Samentha Reynolds) Gonzales, Tim Gonzales, Joe Moya and Andrew Moya; and several other nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Dave was preceded in death by his grandparents, an aunt, and his canine police dog and family friend, Ringo. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2020 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.). Graveside services and military honors will take place at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 26, 2020 at St. Johns United Church of Christ Cemetery, I-946 Ohio State Route 108 (at County Road J), Holgate, OH 43527.
