David Keith Well, 74, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 6, 1949 in Athens, OH to Ralph and Dorothy (Russell) Well. David graduated from Federal Hocking High School in Stewart, OH in 1968, Tri-County Technical Institute with an associate’s degree in 1970, and from Tiffin University with a bachelor’s degree. On January 4, 1987 he married Deborah Trautman, and she survives. David worked as an engineer in research & development for Investment Castings for over 20 years, retiring in 2004. He had worked his whole life as an engineer with a total career spanning 35 years.
David was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, member of the Sycamore Golf Club, where he and his wife golfed 5 days a week before he got sick. David enjoyed woodworking, making ink pens out of square blocks, pens out of rifle shells from military graveside services, and yard ornaments. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals, and Cincinnati Reds. David’s light of his life was his first-born great granddaughter, Liliana, who brought so much love to great Grandpa. She was great Grandpa’s Little Princess. David’s family is going to miss his dry sense of humor. David had a real easy going way, but if you screwed up, he’d let you know about it.
In addition to his loving wife Deborah of 37 years, he is survived by his children, Nicole Well (special friend Charlie Sickles), Nichole Taylor (Elbert Taylor), Denton Goodin (Lindsay Goodin), and Chad Well, grandchildren, Aaron Smith (Natalie Smith), Zachary Smith (Davilyn Smith), Shyanne Taylor (special friend Jed Roth), Rowan Portillo, and Joseph Well, great grandchildren, Liliana Smith and Adaline Smith, and nephews, Christopher Byron and Casey Byron. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Patricia Well, and sister, Candace Byron.
Visitation for David will be Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 1-4 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, with memorial services to follow at 4:00 p.m. conducted by Pastor Darryl Hamm.
