David J. Waterhouse

David J. Waterhouse, 74, of Oak Harbor, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at his home. He was born on April 23, 1940, in Watseka, IL to Warren and Thelma (Fields) Waterhouse. On June 8, 1963, in Oak Harbor he married Dorothy Tallman, and she survives. Dave served in the 612th Engineer Battalion with the U.S. Army Ohio National Guard for 35 years, with 30 of those years as a full-time technician, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, and the Ohio American Legion, Columbus. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, helping on the family farm and taking road trips all over the country. He loved family gatherings and especially enjoyed his weekly morning breakfasts with friends at Kozy Corners In addition to his loving wife of 51 years, Dave is survived by his daughter, Sandra (Steven) Rhodes of Oak Harbor; grandchildren Sarah Rhodes, serving in the Peace Corps in Benin, West Africa, and Thomas Rhodes, a senior at The Ohio State University; daughter-in-law Tracy (Dave) Willert of Milwaukee, WI; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rich and Joyce Tallman; nephew Greg (Tricia) Tallman; niece Sharon (Dan) Rhodes; great-nephews and nieces Kurtis, Austin, and Samantha Tallman and Tristan and Theodore Rhodes. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Stuart Waterhouse, and son Rick Waterhouse. Visitation will be at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Oak Harbor, from 2-8 p.m., Monday, October 6, 2014, with the family present 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October7, 2014, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, with burial to follow in Rusha Cemetery, Oak Harbor, with military graveside services. The family has requested memorials for Dave to St. John Lutheran Church Endowment Trust Fund, Fremont Memorial Hospice, or a charity of the donors choice.
