David T. Vargas, Jr.

July 30, 1977 — May 4, 2014

David T. Vargas, Jr., age 36, passed away suddenly on May 4, 2014. He was born in Toledo, Ohio to Denyse Moore and David T. Vargas, Sr. He graduated from Southview High School in 1995, attended college until joining the U.S. Marine Corp in 1998. Dave took tremendous pride in everything he did and strived to do it the best it could be done. He was a local hero - serving in Iraq as a combat veteran and was Honorably Discharged as a Sergeant in 2008. After serving his country he was employed by Cellular Central as the Regional Manager. Anyone that knew Dave will agree that he was a man that couldnt be described in a few lines of a local paper. Dave was an amazing and loving father. His top priority in life was spending time with his son Trent Vargas aka his PIC. Dave loved taking Trent to Wildwood Park to walk along the trails, they enjoyed many camping trips, Mud Hens and Walleyes games, and they both could be heard cheering Go Blue! for their favorite team. Dave was also an exceptional son and an outstanding brother. He and his brother Christopher looked out for one another and were more than just brothers, they were also best friends. While they served in Iraq together there were a few articles written about their brotherly love and one article in particular was so appropriately titled He Aint Heavy, Hes My Brother because that is what type of relationship they had together. Dave was looked up to by his many cousins and was always a person that could be depended on as a person to turn to whether it was for a favor, advice, shoulder to lean on, or just someone to have a few drinks and reminisce with. He loved sports especially Michigan Wolverines and Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed playing softball, dancing, karaoke, camping, spending time with family and friends, but hated fishing. There are no words that can express how much one man truly meant to so many people. Dave was an amazing dad, an outstanding brother, wonderful and caring son, and he is someone that truly blessed the lives of his entire family and his many friends. Dave left behind so many loved ones including his son, Trent Vargas; parents David and Denyse Vargas; brother Christopher Dena Vargas; grandparents Blaise and Raymond Vargas, Sr. and Patricia Moore; niece and nephew Makenah and Brannan Vargas; fiancee Janet Pietrowski; goddaughter Meghan Mitchell and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dave will be tremendously missed and will always be remembered by his contagious smile and booming laugh - he will forever live in all of our hearts. Dave was preceded in death by his grandfather Dennis Moore. Friends will be received at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. West of Corey Rd. on Friday, May 9, 2014 after 1pm and a memorial service will follow at 7pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Trent Vargas College Fund C/O at any PNC Bank. Friends and family are welcome to celebrate his life at Bar 145 on Monroe St. after the memorial service. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
