David A. Sweeney, age 83, of Sylvania, OH passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Darlington Nursing and Rehab Center. The son of Clare and Georgia (McGhee) Sweeney, he was born October 1, 1934 in Toledo. He worked for the DeVilbiss Co. in sales and later in human resources, retiring in 1996 after 43 years. David attended the University of Toledo studying in business administration. He was a member of the Damascus/Collingwood Lodge No.643 F A. M. where he had served as Worshipful Master. David enjoyed meeting with his friends on Sundays in what was known as the John Deere Breakfast Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marilyn; children, Sharon (Dan) Barnhart, Susan Hall and Brian Hall; grandchildren, Matt (Joy), Alison (Sam), Traci (Mike), Tim (Amie) and Derek (Heather); several great grandchildren; and his little Bulldog, Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shannon Sweeney. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 2-8:00 PM at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd) where Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will begin on Friday at 1:00 PM in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Heart Association or the Toledo Humane Society.
