David Russell Squire

David Squire (1949-2026)

David Squire, 76, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026 surrounded by his loving family . He was the proud husband of Mary, for 43 years, father of 2 daughters, and grandfather of 3.

He was born in Toledo, OH on December 17, 1949 to Russell and Frances Squire. As a lifelong Toledo resident, Dave attended Harvard Elementary and Bowsher High School. He was a proud graduate of The University of Toledo where he received both his undergraduate degree and his MBA. In 1982 David married the love of his life and best friend, Mary Frankowski at Rosary Cathedral. Together they shared a wonderful life.

He spent his career helping others within Human Resources at St. Charles Hospital, St. Vincent Medical Center and served as the Director of Human Resources at Oakwood-Beaumont Hospital for 20 years before his retirement, working hard to take care of his family. Known for his fairness and integrity, he was a respected leader. He was a man of faith and took pride in joining the Catholic Church as an adult and was a longtime member of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Parish.

Despite a busy career, Dave never failed to show up for his family. He was a devoted and loving father to Beth and Christina, always being there and ready to offer some piece of advice and he was a true partner in life to his wife, Mary, all of whom dearly miss him and the life lessons he imparted to them. When he wasn't home, his favorite place to be was at the beach on Hilton Head Island.

Dave held many names in his life, but his favorite was "Baba", as his grandchildren affectionately called him. He took great pride in watching them grow and learn, and spending as much time with them as he could. Dave and Mary dedicated time for each of their grandchildren, helping to watch and care for them during the beginning of their lives for all 3.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Russell Squire; mother Frances Squire; brothers Stephen and Robert Squire; cousin and closest friend Phillip Squire. He is survived by his loving wife Maria (Mary) Squire; daughters Elizabeth (Bret) Osburn and Christina (Jonathan) Williams; and his grandchildren, Brendan, Aidan and Marianna.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 9 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, with recitation of the rosary at 6:00pm. The Funeral service will be Friday, July 10 at 11:00am at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church.
