David C Sorg, 88, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 in the Stein Hospice Care Center. He was born January 11, 1926 in Oak Harbor, the son of H.A. and Florence G. (Leaser) Sorg. On October 26, 1946, he married, Barbara May Branum and she survives. David was a WWII veteran having served his country in the US Navy. He worked in construction all his life retiring in 2009 from Focht Construction. He was a member of the Port Clinton Elks Lodge #1718, life member of the Port Clinton VFW, Homer D. Gardner Post #2480, and member of the Sandusky American Legion. Survivors include: Wife: Barbara Sorg of Port Clinton; Children: David C. (Linda) Sorg, III, Kathryn Chenier, Daniel G. Sorg, Leona Marie (John) Berube and Tom Joseph (Teresa) McCarney; 16 Grandchildren; 25 Great-Grandchildren; Brother: William Sorg; Sister: Joanne Sandwich and many Nieces & Nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents, great grandchildren: Laela Berube & Leo Sorg, brothers: Don, Lynn & Wendall Sorg and sister: Mary Louise Phillips. Friends may call 1pm, Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Port Clinton Elks Lodge, 231 Buckeye Blvd, Port Clinton. At 2pm, there will be an Elks Memorial Service, a time of sharing memories, followed by military honors by the Port Clinton VFW Homer D. Gardner Post #2480. Memorial donations in memory of David may be given to Stein Hospice or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
