David L. Shessler, 64, of Genoa, Ohio died Friday, July 29, 2011from injuries sustained in a tractor accident. Dave was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 10, 1947 to G. Richard and Janis Drummer Shessler. After graduation from Genoa Area Local High School Dave entered the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. Dave went to work for Dunn Chevy Olds as a mechanic for many years after which he owned and operated his own trucking company, hauling steel. Recently he was employed at the Hirzel Canning Company. Dave loved aviation and was an active member of the Experimental Aircraft Assoc. E.A.A. #582; Toledo Metcalf Field. He also enjoyed classic cars. He had a great sense of humor and was a jack of all trades he was your go-to guy when something needed to be done. Dave is survived by his daughter, Malissa A. Shessler, grandson, Alan L. Moore, father, G. Richard Shessler, sister, Jane Larry Williams, brothers, Paul Mary Ann Shessler, John Donna Shessler, and Thomas Shessler. He is also survived by his Special friend Vicki Zambrano, and ex-wife, Linda Shessler, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Janis Shessler. A funeral service for Dave will be conducted at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at the E.A.A #582 hanger, located at Toledo Metcalf Field, 28331 Lemoyne Rd., Millbury, OH. A meal and fellowship will follow, in the hanger, immediately after the service. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday afternoon in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa, Ohio. Visitation for Dave will be from 2-8 PM on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, 501 West St. Genoa, OH. The family suggests that memorials in Daves name be made to the E.A.A. #582, 28331 Lemoyne Rd. Millbury, OH 43447, or the American Cancer Society, 740 Commerce Dr. Suite B, Perrysburg, OH 43551.
