David D. Root

David Root passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to his parents David Wagner and Sandra Brunning on March 7, 1961, in Toledo, Ohio. He was adopted by Neal Root at the age of five who loved and cared for him. He graduated from Whitmer High School but began working at age 16 and was a hardworking man his entire life. David was all about family and his grandkids call him “Papa”. He loved music and playing the guitar, Fritos, and his beer. He had a few favorite songs such as “Grandma’s Feather Bed” and “Dust in the Wind” that he loved to sing and play. On any given day you might find him fixing something that was broken or in the kitchen getting a sweet snack, like cookies. He also loved to get his dogs all riled up. David will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Beverly Root; siblings William (Gina) Root, Bobby Wagner, Robin Wagner, John Jones; children Elizabeth Root, David Root, Tonya (Daniel) Barraclough, Jason Barraclough, Kristina (Brian) Barraclough; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, sister Kathrine Root. The family would like to welcome you on Monday, November 29, 2021, at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave (Near Corey Rd) from 12-8 pm for a time to remember David and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers the family suggests making a donation to the American Cancer Society.
