David C. Rife

David C. Rife, 75, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away Friday, December 10, 2021 at the Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green, OH after an extended illness. He was born on June 26, 1946 in Port Clinton, OH to Wilfred W. and June M. (Fleckner) Rife. On February 14, 1987 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Oak Harbor he married Virginia M. Wamsley, and she survives. David worked for Libbey Owens Ford Glass Co. in Rossford, OH for 36 years before retiring in 2000. He also previously served as a volunteer fireman for the Portage Fire District in Oak Harbor. David was a huge sports fan, especially football, including his favorite teams, The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns, and in baseball the Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed hunting for waterfowl and deer, and playing cards, especially euchre. In addition to his loving wife of 34 years, Virginia, he is survived by his daughter, Gina M. (Rife) Scherger, son, Dave M. Rife, step-sons, Steven E. Stout and J. David Stout, grandsons, David M. Dachenhouse, Matthew D. Rife, Shaun M. (Rachel) Yurista, Alex M. Olalde, and Cameron J. Olalde, 6 great grandchildren, brother, Daniel H. Rife, sister, Cheryl K. (Rife) Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Staci L. Rife, grandson, Robert C. Yurista, brother, Kenneth G. Rife, and sister, Linda M. Rife. Visitation for David will be Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 2-8 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
