David L Palmer, Sr.

David L. Palmer Sr., age 84 of Toledo passed away Monday, October 30. 2017 in Flower Hospital. He was born January 30, 1933 in Oak Harbor, Ohio to Fred and Luella (Stack) Palmer. A graduate of Central Catholic High School, he began his career in banking at 16 years old as mail carrier for the former First National Bank of Toledo. After graduation he joined the army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he returned to the bank as a teller and retired as branch manager. A fan of Notre Dame Football, Dave was a member of the Kiwanis and enjoyed music, vintage movies, coin collecting and embroidery. He was also active in St. Clement and Christ the King Parishes. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Catherine; step-son Robert Geisel; grandchild Erica Montgomery; sister Phyllis McGill; and brothers Tom and Freddie Palmer. Surviving are his sons David (Diann), Michael (April), Patrick (Amanda), Joseph (Laurie), Charles (Cindy) and John (Lisa) Palmer; daughter Nancy Palmer; step-children Gary (Marie), Douglas (Teri), Matthew, Steven and Nikki Geisel, Nina (Eugene) Konczal, Catherine Gruenwald, Julia Bates, Geralyn (Donald) Brock and Mary Goad; grandchildren Justin, Jeanette, Ana, Brianna, Josie, Garrett, Dylan, Ashley, Connor, Autumn, Julianna, Andrew and Katelyn; 32 step-grandchildren; and 41 step great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) on Friday from 2-8 PM. where a Scripture Service will be held at 6 PM. Funeral services will start Saturday at 11:30 AM in the funeral home with the funeral mass at 12 noon in Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane Toledo. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association 3540 Secor Rd. Toledo, Ohio 43606.
