David Nicholas Neidhart died on September 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 7, 1979, to Peter and Susan (Rogers) Neidhart in Huntington, NY, Dave grew up being a good kid and a friend to everyone he met. From an early age, he was a kind, unsung hero. He attended Hofstra University in Long Island, New York, for seven years, graduating with a master's degree in education. He was a resident advisor for part of his time there where he mentored many students on adjusting to college and life in general. He counseled students often, most notably during the 2001 terrorist attack in NYC, his bravery and solid foundation in life helped many during that time.
Dave loved sports and played lacrosse as a goalie. He was the captain of his college team. You could find him cheering on his favorite teams, the NY Jets and the NY Mets. Giving back was at the core of Dave’s identity, even tutoring teammates who would take his place on the field.
In 2004, Dave moved to Ann Arbor and met his true love, Carrie Zimmerman, and they have never left each other’s side since. His gentle spirit took in every rescue animal, and their home was a haven for all furry friends. While he loved every animal they took in, his heart was with their tripod cat Ninja -so much so that ninja was affectionately known as “Daves Cat” at their veterinary hospital. Dignity and kindness were important to Dave. A code by which he lived. Dave’s impact on other people will live on for generations.
Left to cherish his memory, the love of his life, Carrie Zimmerman; parents, Peter and Susan Neidhart; brothers and best friends, Daniel and Thomas (Janine) Neidhart; nephews, Brandon and Jesse; Father/Mother in-law Larry and Diane Zimmerman; Brother in-laws Matthew, Mark, and Michael Zimmerman; nieces, Aurora (Barry) Fultz and Alana Zimmerman; countless friends, and his precious fur babies that gave him unconditional love (Ninja, Chuck, Bam, Yoda, Gia, Emma, and Boo).
He was preceded by his grandparents.
