David M. Martin

David M. Martin, 75, of Port Clinton passed away Wednesday, Nov 27, 2013 at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. He was born in Old Fort, OH on Nov 14, 1938 the son of Norine Marcha and Joseph Martin. David married Marita C. Kirby Edwards on June 30, 2001 and she survives. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years and had owned and operated Dave Martin Excavating Construction. David was a member of the Port Clinton Eagles Aerie 2295 and a social member of the VFW Homer D Gardner Post #2480. He enjoyed boating, fishing and woodworking. David made canned hot pickles, pickled eggs, and tomato juice. He was especially known for his secret brine and smoking chicken, turkey and wild game. He spent countless hours with his black lab faithful friend, Cole. He is survived by his wife: Marita; sons: David Dean Paulene Martin, Wayne T. Martin; daughter Cheryl A. James Berry; step-daughter: Heather M. Keith Paulson; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; brother: James Charlotte Martin; sisters: Janet Martin, Mary Thomas, Connie David Babcock; half sister: Jean Stefan; former wife: Arlene Martin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Lisa K. Martin; brothers: Robert Whitey Berlekamp and Gerald Martin. Visitation will be 10-11am, Wednesday, Dec 4, 2013, in Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 216 Washington St, Port Clinton, OH, followed by the funeral service conducted at 11:00AM. Memorial donations in memory of David may be given to the family or Stein Hospice.
