David Lyle Lewis

David (Dave) L. Lewis, age 52, joined his Lord and Savior in heaven on Tuesday December 27, 2016. The son of Lyle and Dorothy, he was born August 20, 1964 in Macomb, IL. During his early years Dave was very active in Scouting and achieved the Star Rank. He was a graduate of Macomb Senior High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Illinois. Dave then enlisted with the U.S. Navy where he served on the Nuclear Submarine USS Daniel Boone and the USS Sea Devil as the vessels Engineering Officer. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to college at The Ohio State University and received two Master of Engineering degrees. He also earned his Professional Engineer license. Dave began a career with Owens-Illinois company where he held a couple of patents. Most recently he worked for First Solar in Perrysburg. He was a member of Westgate Chapel where he developed a loyal family in Christ. While in college he enjoyed hiking, backpacking and the outdoors. Daves other interest included running, golfing, reading Tom Clancy Novels, and Dilbert Comics. Dave grew the best tomatoes and had a knack for taking things apart and putting them back together, no instructions necessary. He was very involved with his sons scouting and proud of their achievements. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; sons, Josh and Jacob; mother, Dorothy Coplan; father; Lyle Lewis(Sharon); siblings, Dan Lewis, Sara (Wes Queen) Lewis, Jim (Sherri) Lewis; mother-in-law, Patsy Schneider; brothers-in-law, Bob (Sue) Giudice, Jeff (Teleah) Greve; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Gabrielle and father-in-law, John Giudice. Friends may visit the family on Sunday from 2-7 Pm at Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave (west of Corey Rd). Family will receive friends on Monday from 11:00-12:00 PM with a celebration of life held Monday at 12:00 PM at Westgate Chapel 2500 Wilford Dr Toledo, OH 43615. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family strongly suggests memorials be given to That Neighborhood Free Health Clinic 306 Bush Toledo, OH 43604.
