David Joseph Lenhart, 87 of Temperance, MI, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Ebeid Center in Sylvania, OH. He was born on April 10, 1936, in Toledo, OH to Lawrence and Genevieve (Manger) Lenhart. He graduated from Whitmer High School and spent most of his career at Toledo Molding and Die. Dave married the love of his life, Rita Irene Brenneman, on July 26, 1958. They spent 62 years together and had 6 children.
Dave will be remembered as a generous, kind, and dedicated man who enjoyed living life to the fullest. He took great pride in leading and loving his family. Dave had a steadfast faith and frequently served as an usher at Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance, MI. Dave was a man of many talents. No project was beyond his capabilities, he was the epitome of a Do-it-yourself handyman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, Michigan football and traveling around in his motorhome with his wife. He was passionate about hosting large events with family and friends in his beautifully kept yard. He was happiest in the presence of his large family and always had something to offer, whether it was a hug, advice, or a delicious, sweet treat. Dave proudly replicated many of the wonderful dishes Rita served her family over the years. Dave was an unbelievable husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A true patriarch.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings Angie, Jim, Donald, Jerry, Donna and Kenny, and great grandson Luke Sherman. He is survived by his brother Bernard, by his children Kimberly (Barry) Hornbeck, Lawrence (Tina) Lenhart, Stephen Lenhart, David (Coleen) Lenhart, Kelly (Alan) Lainez and Brandon (Stacy) Lenhart, as well as 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all.
