David Andrew Kwyer "Dave Klassik"

Aug 29, 1979 — Jun 26, 2026

David Andrew Kwyer, known to many as "Dave Klassik," was released from earthly pain early on June 26, 2026 surrounded by family at Hospice of Northwest Ohio after a fierce fight with pancreatic cancer.

He was born in Ann Arbor, MI on August 29, 1979 to Virginia "Ginny" Borrusch and Thomas "Tom" Kwyer. He grew up in Dearborn and later, Toledo, OH. He graduated from St. John's Jesuit High School in 1997 and earned a degree in culinary arts from Owens Community College in 2012.

A lifelong musician and chef, Dave was a true pillar of the Toledo community. Dave had nearly 30 years of experience in the area's restaurants. His food truck, Naan Stop Kebap, will continue to honor his creative, award-winning legacy. He played with many bands over the years, most recently as the bassist for the band Boogie Matrix Mechanism and with his Phish cover band, Phinger Guns.

Dave's generosity and strength shone through the brightest in his sobriety journey, touching countless lives along his path. He would've celebrated 10 years of sobriety on August 15 of this year. Special appreciation is held for his dear friend and sponsor Mark "Doc" Hollyday.

He is survived by his wife, Sierra Webb; their children Jaxon, Jade and Luna; his mother Ginny; his second mother Kathy Keller; his brother and sister-in-law Michael and Carmen Kwyer; and his sister Charlotte Keller. He is also survived by his step-mother Roxy and step-siblings Chad and Lyndsy Brenner. He is preceded in death by his father, Tom.

Dave was a Phish fanatic, Detroit Tigers fan and an avid fisherman. He traveled often for concerts and games, and took his camper to South Padre Island in Texas for big-game fishing off the Gulf of Mexico. He will be remembered as a compassionate advocate; a modern renaissance man; and above all, a whole-hearted and dedicated father, husband, son, brother and friend to everyone he met. He lived each day enriching the lives of those around him.
A memorial service will be announced by the family in the near future.
