David A. Ihnat, 67, of Port Clinton, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022, at his home. He was born November 29, 1954, in Port Clinton and was the son of John and Alyce Ihnat. He was a 1972 graduate of Port Clinton High School where he played football, basketball and ran track. He was a two year starter in football and was inducted into the Port Clinton High School “Athletic Hall of Fame,” with the 1971 football team.
Dave began his working career with the 3M Company. He also worked for Silgan Plastics for many years, until they closed and later Dave worked for Ventra in Sandusky, before retiring. Dave thoroughly enjoyed living by the lake. Dave was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, served on the church council and helped with church dinners.
Dave is survived by his longtime companion, Patricia Silva Fletcher; siblings, Paul (Lin) Ihnat, Sue (Larry) Roberts and Mike (Susan) Ihnat and nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his extended family, daughters, Laurie (Francisco) Arambula and Jennifer (Antonio Bender) Soler and 4 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m., at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton. Fr. Jonathan Wight will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton, OH 43452, or the donor’s favorite charity.
