David I.B. Vander Hooven passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Wolf Creek Retirement Center, Genacross. He was born in Lakewood, Ohio on December 6, 1933. He graduated from Danville High School and attended Kenyon College. Dave and his dad moved to Maumee in 1957 and joined The Andersons to run the Corn Cob Division for more than 28 years. Dave was married to Anne (Heilman) for more than 57 years. They were blessed with four children and 10 grandchildren Dave and Anne loved to travel and he took her on many trips. The family took several month long trips throughout the United States and Canada. For more than 16 years, he built a skating rink in their side yard on West Wayne Street that the entire neighborhood was welcome to enjoy. Dave spent many hours showing his sons and their friends how to use power tools and fix and build things around the house. Besides Dave’s parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters and his brother. He is survived by his wife Anne; children, Amy (Joseph) Zavac, John (Norine) Vander Hooven, Matt (Kim) Vander Hooven, and James (Jennie) Vander Hooven; and grandchildren, David (Angie), Christopher, Andrew, Ryan, Matthew, Cailee, Nathan, Jude, Jonah and Josephine. Friends and family will be received from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 24 at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St, Maumee. A Scripture service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph, 104 W. Broadway, Maumee on Friday, January 25 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Genacross, Wolf Creek Campus, or ProMedica Hospice or to Saint Joseph Maumee Parish.
