David Michael “Dave” Homsy of Port Clinton, 63, passed away May 15, 2025 at Edgewood Manor. He was born in South Bend, Indiana to loving parents Tamer and Sue (Eckhart) Homsy on December 14, 1961.
David graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1980. He attended Ohio University and later earned an Associate Degree from Terra Community College. He worked at the Garden Restaurant at the Lighthouse for many years. In 2004 he started Dave the Handyman.
David was always a hard worker. As a boy, he relished a good snow storm, since that meant he could spend all day shoveling the neighbors’ sidewalks and driveways, earning some extra money. For relaxation, he loved to kayak and mountain bike with his friends.
Giving back to the community was important to David. He rang the bell for the Salvation Army for many years, no matter the weather. He volunteered for the Juvenile Diabetes Association and the Port Clinton Arts Council.
David never knew a stranger and was always ready with a story or a joke. His belly laugh was legendary. And he really was the uncle who said, “Pull my finger.”
David is survived by his mother Sue Homsy, sisters: Sherri (Steve) Arnold and Renee (Paul) Schwartz, nieces: Katherine Arnold and Anne (Brooks) Parrish, and nephew Matt Schwartz. He was proceeded in death by his father Tamer Homsy.
Visitation will be held at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory 216 Washington St, Port Clinton, Ohio Friday June 6, 2025 from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be Saturday June 7, 2025 at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Catawba Island Cemetery.
