David George Gable

David G. Gable, age 75, passed away Saturday January 19, 2013 at Toledo Hospital. The son of Frank and Kathryn Stoddard, he was born Nov. 28, 1937 in Toledo. He attended Libbey High School and later joined the U.S. Marine Corp. and was honorably discharged in 1958. David enjoyed a long career with The Toledo Fire Department starting in 1962 and retiring in 1988. He worked for the Toledo Firefighters Federal Credit Union from the early 70s until his retirement in 2005 as manager. During his career with the TFFFCU he was instrumental in the construction of the current credit union on Laskey Rd. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his yearly hunting trips to Northern Michigan. Nothing brought David more joy than spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He is survived by his loving wife, Judith; step sons, Tommy Rita Bridges, David Bridges; grandchildren, Stephanie Turner, TJ, Tyler, Michael, Alex, Joshua, Brandon and Baily Bridges, Joseph Jeanne Farrow, great grandchild, Devin Billy; sister, Kathy Carl Fritts; sisters-in-law, Josephine DeShetler, Genevieve James Jordon, Cathe Fadell; brothers-in-law, Robert Vickie Calkins, David Sharon Baz; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father at the age of 12, his mother; brother, James; and step son, Kenn Bridges. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave west of Corey Rd with a Last Alarm Service at 7:00 PM.
