David L. Emrick, 68, Perrysburg, passed away April 30, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Maumee, after a brief illness. Dave was born March 23, 1947 in Toledo to George and Barbara Emrick. He graduated from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1971. While attending UT, Dave met his future wife, Nancy, at a West Toledo YMCA Friday night dance in 1966. They were married June 24, 1972 at First Congregational Church, Toledo. Dave worked at Baron Drawn Steel for over 30 years as a shipping and inventory clerk, retiring in 2003. In his retirement years, he worked part time at the Maumee Senior Center transporting seniors to the center and their various appointments. Dave was an avid UT Rockets fan. He and Nancy had season football and basketball tickets for nearly 40 years, in addition to taking numerous trips to attend away games. Dave was actively involved at First Congregational Church, serving over the years as an usher, deacon, trustee and treasurer of the church. He enjoyed traveling, from family vacations across the U.S. to international trips with Nancy in their retirement. They visited 48 states and 27 countries. His favorite was their trip to China in 2009. Dave spent his free time playing bridge, working in his yard and spending time with his grandchildren. Dave is survived by his wife, Nancy (Prater) Emrick; son, Chad, and daughter, Bethany (Gregory) Petras, both of Toledo; two grandchildren, Andrew and Allison Petras; sisters, Gail (Steve) Latham, St. Mary’s, Ga., and Linda (Larry) Badhorn, Waterville; and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Barbara Emrick, and nephew, Brandon Sanford. Visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave., Toledo, on Friday, May 8, from 3-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 9, at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church, 2315 Collingwood Blvd, Toledo, OH 43620, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Congregational Church or the Parkinson’s Foundation of Northwest Ohio (www.pfnwo.org).
