David C. DiPofi, age 51, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 11, 2013, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dave was born in Toledo on April 5, 1962 to Mary Claire and Vincent DiPofi, Sr. A 1980 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School, he received his BSEE in 1987 and his MBA in 1994 from the University of Toledo. Dave worked full-time as a CAD operator at AVCA Corp while attending college. Upon graduation, Dave remained at AVCA as an electrical engineer until 2004. He was most recently employed by SSOE as a department manager. Dave was well respected by his peers and considered especially knowledgeable in control systems. He was responsible for the start up of many production systems in the food and glass industry throughout the world, and was often requested by name. He led others by example with hard work, patience, and knowledge. Dave was recognized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers IEEE as Young Engineer of the Year. Dave met the love of his life, Karen, in 1986 at a Halloween costume party. The most important thing to him was his family and he cherished the time he spent participating in his childrens many activities. He especially loved watching his son play baseball and his daughter dance and perform. He was an avid runner and cyclist and enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with his children. Dave was a classic car enthusiast and a gifted artist. He was also a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Dave is survived by his wife, Karen OConnor; children, Eileen and Dominic; parents, Vincent Sr. and Mary Claire DiPofi; brothers, Vince Sandy and Matt Becki DiPofi; and sisters, Kathy Clay Shelton and Jodi Tom Grzybowski. Visitation will be Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 1:30-9:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd.. The funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 15 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5373 Main St. Sylvania, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society specified for colon cancer research, 740 Commerce Dr. Suite B, Perrysburg, OH 43551 or to Foundation for Our Future, c/o St. Joseph Parish, 5373 Main St. Sylvania, OH 43560.
